Carlos’ Pride Picks: Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Owned Businesses in Nashville

When we first found out that we were moving to Nashville I am not gonna lie… we were a bit apprehensive not knowing what the community had in store for us. Since day 1, Nashville has embraced us with open arms, making it feel more like home every day. It’s incredible how supportive and vibrant the LGBTQIA+ community is here. As we get ready for Pride Month 2024, I want to share my favorite LGBTQIA+ owned businesses here in Nashville. So grab a drink and scroll on down.

LGBTQIA+ Owned Businesses

  1. Lipstick Lounge - From the moment we stepped into Lipstick Lounge, we knew we’d found a gem. Owners Jonda and Christa have created a space that’s all about warmth and welcome. Jonda's voice? Absolutely mesmerizing. The food is just as good—those chicken tenders and crinkle fries are my go-to, and you must try the corn dogs at night; they’re a game-changer.

  2. Dandre's Bakery - I first met David, the mastermind behind Dandre's, at a friend's Christmas cookie contest. Not only did his cookies steal the show, but they also won first prize! When he mentioned he owned a bakery in Nashville, I wasn't surprised. Fast forward to today, and he's a semifinalist for the 2024 James Beard Awards. His bakery is a testament to his passion and excellence. Do yourself a favor and taste the magic at Dandre's Bakery.

  3. Big Drag Bus - Imagine celebrating your birthday on a massive purple bus rolling down Nashville’s iconic Broadway—well, I don’t have to imagine because that’s exactly how I spent my 35th! The Big Drag Bus is an unforgettable way to experience the heart of Nashville with a touch of glitter and sass.

  4. Old Glory-Tucked away in the Edgehill Village neighborhood, Old Glory is a hidden gem/Speakeasy that offers craft cocktails and a chic atmosphere. This bar is housed in an old boiler room, giving it a unique vibe that's hard to beat. It’s the perfect spot for a pre-drink before checking out some of the nearby restaurants, or even a night out with friends.

5.Turnip Truck - Just a mile away from our Airbnb, Turnip Truck was a serendipitous find that quickly became a staple for us. It’s the place for fresh, local groceries, and yes—they deliver wine and beer which absolutely clinched it for us.

6. Clifton + Leopold - Long before SOC was a twinkle in my eye, I had a chance to be featured in a Clifton+Leopold's blog (check it out here) highlighting their stunning accessories. Their bow ties and pocket squares have a way of making any outfit pop—perfect for any of Nashville's stylish soirées. P.S. you can support them even from afar. Check them out!

7.Anthony Photography - Anthony is more than a photographer; he's part of the Summer of Carlos family. His incredible work can be seen all over our website and he's the genius behind our Airbnb photos. Having his artistic touch on our projects is always a privilege.

8. Music City Creative - I have to give a special shoutout to Jared and Steven from Music City Creative, who welcomed us with open arms and were among the first people we met in the community. They make the iconic "Y'all Means All" shirts that I proudly wore and was highlighted for in 202. Their passion and positivity are infectious, and they truly embody the spirit of Nashville.

*Diskin Cider - I couldn’t resist and had to put Diskin on the list because of the support they do for the community. This place is more than just a cidery; it's where you will tend to see the Nash 11 friend group unwind, laugh, and enjoy some of the best ciders in town. Diskin Cider is pet-friendly, so your furry friends can join in the fun. And you absolutely can't miss the Diskin Divas drag show – it's a spectacular blend of flair and flavor!
