Experience Summer of Carlos in Our Whimsical Nashville Rental

Phase II of SOC is finally here!

You, too, can now experience our East Nash stomping grounds in our very own vacation rental — located directly behind us. (Literally!)

Over the years, we’ve received countless messages asking how to have an SOC experience. Where to dine? Where to stay? What to do?

Well … after years of dreaming and 14 months of putting a plan into action, we are excited to formally announce that the Summer of Carlos experience is now available to everyone in our first short-term rental.

She’s funky, she’s fun, she’s whimsical … she’s SOC.

The Summer of Carlos “experience” is all about how you feel when you walk in. We chose to surround our guests with bold wallpaper, blush accents, and summer vibes. I wanted to create a space where you instantly feel happy when you arrive, while still pushing the boundaries of traditional design. It’s everything I dreamed of and more.

The space exudes an elevated atmosphere with a spark of playfulness. The vaulted ceiling main room leads to a fully-stocked kitchen with beautiful marble countertops and every amenity you could ever need for a seamless stay. An open concept living space centers on a peacock velvet queen sleeper sofa and dedicated workspace for those who find it hard to disconnect. (Though you should try.)

For a touch of plush whimsy, step into the moody yet inviting bedroom with its super comfy queen bed, floor length mirror, and ode to maximalist style.

The bathroom features a hand-laid river rock floor and deep aqua blue tile accented by tropical wallpaper. Do your laundry (so you don’t go home with dirties) in a high-end Samsung washer and dryer.

But all this fabulousness didn’t just happen overnight.

Setting up the space was quite the adventure. It took 10 moving companies declining our request, ultimately renting a manual forklift, six sets of hands, and a lot of ambition to get the sleeper sofa in. But it’s perfect. The rich tone of the velvet is a total hit, and I was so excited to see it in space.

You can thank Instagram Ads for the Ruggable leopard jungle rug along with the throw pillows (see our March newsletter for Carlos’ fav buys). If you remember, I originally was looking at a Gucci tiger wallpaper for the office, and I was still fixated on the animal print. Unfortunately, it ain’t Gucci, but I think the leopards in the rug, the tiger in the pillows, and the zebras and giraffes more than make up for it.

Speaking of giraffes and zebras, I finally pulled the trigger on an Emma J Shiply wallpaper I’d been eyeing. My SOC jungle was starting to take shape. I’d been following Emma for a few years but never had the opportunity to fully embrace her maximalist design. It always gave me Mad Hatter Tea Party vibes, and when I spontaneously ‘added to cart,’ something took over me.

All of a sudden, I had the matching curtains, lamp, and pillows on my doorstep. #OOPS. (Steven was not amused.) But seeing it come to life and the feeling that it gives was all part of trusting the process.

You would think he would have learned by now. Winky face. LOL.

Once all of the necessities had been purchased, (yes, wallpaper is a necessity), we were able to focus on the details. Being in the East Nashville area just a bridge away from Germantown, we wanted to make sure we shopped local. To top off the Mad Hatter vibes the wallpaper was giving me, we stumbled upon Alice in Wonderland sketches in a local store called The Golden Slipper. Check them out the next time you’re in Germantown.

The space wouldn't be complete without some of our favorite bath and body products from The Good Fill – which we want to share with you! All the shampoo, conditioner and hand soap in the space was curated from our friends at their shop just 5 minutes away. We hope you’ll enjoy their products (and mission) as much as we do.

If you’re ready for the full Summer of Carlos experience, look no further than our whimsical Nash getaway. This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to host you.
