A Beginner's Guide to Choosing Original Art for Your Home with Summer of Carlos

Phase II of SOC is finally here! You, too, can now experience our East Nash stomping grounds in our very own vacation rental — located directly behind us. (Literally!) Over the years, we’ve received countless messages asking how to have an SOC experience. Where to dine? Where to stay? What to do? Well … after years of dreaming and 14 months of putting a plan into action, we are excited to formally announce that the Summer of Carlos experience is now available to everyone in our first short-term rental.

Every time we set foot in a house that is well-designed and intentionally detailed, it is an experience that is felt with all of our senses. Our eyes drink in the colors and visual textures of well-appointed color schemes and wallpaper … our nose picks up on the scent of freshly-laid European white oak … our ears hear the void of what will soon be a home filled with personal comings and goings … our hands touch the custom millwork or wrought iron, as they feel the smoothness of a hand-milled stair railing.

My obsession with wallpaper hit its peak during the pandemic. We finally had the time to be patient enough to go through the whole wallpaper experience – ordering samples and deciding which pattern to choose. But most of all, it was when I spent more time in my office than in any other room in the house. I needed the space to feel special.

It’s travel season again, and we’re even getting closer to the holidays, which is pretty scary if you ask me. If you follow us on social media, you know I have a horrible habit of booking the very first flight of the day - which is usually at 5:30 or 6 a.m.

Surprise, surprise … Nashville is expensive! (What isn’t these days?) $25 cocktails are a thing, and a dinner for two can easily run more than $200 when celebrating so much as a simple date night.
